Until the early 1920s, most astronomers believed that the Milky Way contained all the stars in the Universe. Today we know that the Milky Way alone has over 100 billion planets. It’s hard to imagine how much future generations will learn about the universe.
In the meanwhile, I’ll cherish sleeping under the stars on summer nights like this; watching in awe as the galactic center slowly rises above the tiny town of McCall.
